Alert: Termination of TPS for Haiti, Yemen, and Syria

This ALERT contains important updates to the Whack-A-Mole: Chasing Constantly Changing TPS “Expiration” Dates blog posted last week on our Immigration @ Work Blog.

Yesterday, E-Verify released guidance indicating that TPS status for Haiti, Yemen, and Syria was terminated.  As a result, Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) for employees who have TPS status from Haiti, Yemen, and Syria are no longer valid.  Employers must reverify TPS Haiti, TPS Syria, and TPS Yemen beneficiaries who presented these EADs and cannot continue to employ a person who does not provide proof of current employment authorization.

If you or your company have any questions about TPS and/or other visa categories, EADs, how to reverify employees, or proper procedures for updating Form I-9s consider contacting experienced employment-based immigration counsel.
