Peter Robb Sworn In As NLRB General Counsel

By Timothy F. Murphy - Skoler, Abbott & Presser, P.C.

November 20, 2017

Attorney Peter B. Robb was sworn in for a four-year term as General Counsel of the National Labor Relations Board last Friday.  Mr. Robb was nominated by President Trump and was confirmed by the U.S. Senate earlier this month.

As General Counsel, Mr. Robb will play a key role in setting the NLRB’s agenda and with it the nation’s labor policy.  It is widely expected that Mr. Robb will seek to reverse many of the Obama Board’s decisions and initiatives during his term as General Counsel.

According to the NLRB’s press release, “[t]he Office of the General Counsel is independent from the Board and is responsible for the investigation and prosecution of unfair labor practice cases, for the conducting of secret ballot elections to determine whether employees desire union representation, for the overall supervision of field offices around the country, and for the general oversight of the Agency’s administrative, financial, personnel and human capital operations.”

Before becoming the NLRB’s General Counsel, Mr. Robb was a practicing management-side labor lawyer in Vermont.
